There are several reasons for a timeout error and it doesn't necessarily mean that your website is down.

Do not panic!

First, let's check if it is "just you" and your device. Go to the IsItDownRightNow.com and type in your website URL. If it is "just you", then your website is not down and others can still see your website.

Why only my website is timing out on my device?

Most likely the IP address of your device has been blocked by our security system due to many failed login attempts either to your hosting control panel (cPanel), or FTP, or your email accounts.

What should I do now?

  • Go to the WhatIsMyIPAddress.com to find the IPv4 address of your device.
You need just the IPv4 address. Our system is not blocking IPv6 addresses.
  • Navigate to the Unban IP Address Center in your client area.
  • Type your IPv4 address in the "Unban IP Address" field, and click the "Check IP" button.
  • If you IPv4 address has been banned by server firewall, a reason for banning will appear on the page.
  • Click the "Unban" button.
  • Now please refresh your web browser and everything should start working on your device.
Please make sure that you understand a reason for banning. You must resolve this issue, otherwise our firewall will block your IP address again.

How to prevent this from happening again?

Make sure that you are using a correct credentials for login to your cPanel, FTP and email accounts.

Do not try to guess your credentials. Please keep in mind that we allow only few failed login attempts and then your IP will be blocked in our firewall. If you forgot your password, please reset it:

  • To reset your password for the cPanel and FTP please follow instructions provided in the How to Reset cPanel Password article.
  • To reset your password for email account please log into your cPanel, navigate to the Email section and click the Email Accounts icon. Then, in the table beside email account in question, click the Change Password link and follow on-screen instructions.

Why you are blocking IP addresses?

We are blocking IP addresses in order to protect your hosting account from Brute-force attacks. To learn more about the brute-force attack and what it does, please see this article.

Feel free to open a support ticket through your client area if you have any questions and/or need help.
